March 2022

Sitting Vollyball: Our sitting Volleyball team participated in many games at Drapers Academy in Romford.

Handball: In March we took a team of children to attend the Handball competition at Bower Park Academy.

Festival of Sports: Newtons School were lucky enough to be chosen to represent Havering in the London Youth Games Festival of Sports events.

Sports Hall Athletics: Year 3 and 4 took part in the Sports Hall Athletics tournament held at Harrow Lodge Sports Centre.

February 2022

Stubbers Multi Activity Day: After the success of the last Stubbers day the sports collective invited us back to give more children the experience to build on their social, physical and general wellbeing skills. Another group of Year 4 children were able to spend the day at Stubbers learning to aim at targets and use the high ropes. The Year 4 children had a great day and were excited to share their day with staff and peers.

 

 

January 2022

Tag Rugby: Children from Year 5 & 6 represented Newtons at this year’s Tag Rugby event held at Noak Hill Sports Centre. There were a large number of primary schools within Havering that attended the competition and it was very competitive. We competed extremely well as a team, demonstrating a great togetherness and resilience throughout the day. The children won all their matches and went through to the finals. The finals were played in February, the team continued to practise alongside their peers. They showed a real passion to win. They played a number of matches again and came top in their final group stages. They were pipped to the post by one point, but came away with a well-deserved silver medal and Borough Runners up. A fantastic effort and achievement!

November 2021

Netball: In November our Netballers travelled to Noak Hill to play their league games. They played 3 games against other schools. The team worked hard using skills, tactics and strategy plans. The team demonstrated team commitment and spirt, cheering each other on and showing great sportsmanship and respect for each other. A great effort from a great team.

 


Primary Panathlon: A group of children were taken to the YMCA to compete in the Havering Panathlon. This is a range of skill-based activities such as Boccia, table cricket, slam dunk basketball and many more. The children were split into two teams and worked together to score points. The girls team won the parachute event, and the boys came second in the table cricket. All the children had an amazing time and were really proud of the medals they received!
Football: The boys football team entered and played their first tournament at Harrow Lodge Primary School. The boys worked together as a team, and demonstrated great sportsmanship, resilience and fantastic football skills! They came up against some tough opposition and fought a good battle. As always, the children enjoyed playing and were all so well behaved cheering on each other and all the other teams.

Stubbers Activity Centre: This year the sports collective invited schools from Havering to bring a group of children to stay and play at Stubbers Activity Centre. A group of Year 4 children were excited to go on a scavenger Hunt led by Stubbers. After they had the opportunity to play on all their outdoor equipment. The Year 4 children had a great day and were excited to tell their parents what great activities were available to do at Stubbers.  

October 2021:

Cross Country: In October all children from years 1-6 took part in the School Games Virtual Cross Country event. The event was open to all pupils to get as many schools and young people physically active. As a school, we successfully completed the event. Children in Years 1 and 2 completed a run of 500m. Children in Years 3 and 4 completed a run of 1000m and children in years 5 and 6 completed a run of 1600m. The three fastest children from each year group were given certificates. What a fantastic achievement from the whole school!

March 2020

Badminton:  In March we took a team of children to attend the Badminton Racket Festival at Hornchurch Sports Centre.  The children had the opportunity to learn new skills and work with older children to help develop their ability.  Newtons were lucky enough to be picked to represent Havering in the London Games.

February 2020

Quicksticks Hockey:  On Wednesday 12th February children from year 5 and 6 participated in a hockey competition at Coopers School.  All of the children tried their best and were a credit to our school.  Throughout the day they demonstrated our core value of Respect and as a result were rewarded with the respect award.  Well done to those children

Sitting Vollyball:  Our sitting Vollyball team participated in many games at Drapers Academy in Romford.  Our team played magnificently only losing one game and getting to the final.  In the final they lost by 3 points, they demonstrated fantastic teamwork and determination!  Well done!

January 2020

Boccia: A group of children between years 3 and 6 represented the school at the Havering Boccia competition held at the YMCA.  The children demonstrated excellent teamwork skills and played the game brilliantly.  They came 4th out of 18 teams!

December 2019

Panathlon:  A group of children were taken to the YMCA to compete in the Havering Panathlon.  Our children worked well together and cheered each other on!  Our team came second and enjoyed receiving their silver medals.

Bowling:  In December we took a group of our children to the bowling competition at Collier Row.  The children enjoyed trying a new sport and were a credit to our school!  A very enjoyable and fun sport to compete in!

November 2019

Tag Rugby:  Children from Year 5 & 6 represented Newtons at this year’s Tag Rugby event held at May & Baker.  There were a large number of primary schools within Havering that attended and the competition was very competitive.  We competed extremely well as a team demonstrating a great togetherness and resilience throughout the day - they were nice and muddy by the end of the day!

Netball League:  On a very cold and wet day in November the Netball A team attended the Netball league.  The team played well demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and dedication in very cold and wet weather!  A great effort from a great team.

October 2019:

High 5 Netball:  In September we attended the High-5 Netball competition held at Hornchurch High School.  Our children used their skills and strategy plan to play a number of games.  Well done to our Netball A team for making it to the 1/4 finals.

Cross Country:  A selection of children from year 3-6 attended the Havering Cross Country event held at Stubbers.  The children all paced themselves very well throughout their run and displayed great determination and commitment throughout the race.  A special mention to Kornelia who finished 20th out of 96 runners!  Well done to all the children involved.
