Our Vision

Our vision is to create a federation of schools where children succeed and are proud of their achievements. We strive to actively promote British values and prepare our children to become role models, thus preparing them for life in modern Britain. To do this, we create a respectful, inclusive atmosphere that is welcoming, fun, friendly and safe. We are a federation that nurtures curiosity and creativity through an inspiring, challenging and engaging curriculum, where learning is at the heart of all that we do. Our children learn to become resilient and self-assured in an environment where success is celebrated. Our ethos is delivered through these aims for our children:

• To teach tolerance and respect to all children. All children are valued individuals and should be respected.

• To encourage everyone to have high expectations of themselves in an environment where they can reach their personal best.

• To promote equality of opportunity and aim to develop the children’s awareness of moral, cultural, social and spiritual issues.

• To have engaging and challenging opportunities through a creative and inclusive curriculum within the school and beyond into the local community.

• To encourage excellence by sharing successes and supporting the children to reach their full potential.

Through the aims of the Federation, we actively promote lifelong learning whilst ensuring the children respect one another, enjoy their school experiences and achieve their personal best.

Welcome to our site!

I am extremely proud to be the Executive Headteacher of Newtons Primary School and it is a delight to welcome you to our warm and friendly school.  We are a two form entry school.

We have a clear vision for our children: Together we reach for our personal best.”  Through our broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, we prepare pupils to learn and thrive living as citizens in the modern world.

We pride ourselves on having vibrant, dedicated staff who share the common goal of developing children’s academic abilities and life skills through engaging and inspiring lessons.  Children are always encouraged to investigate, initiate, contribute and reflect as they progress along their path of learning.

It is a pleasure to walk around the school to see the well-behaved children in every classroom.  You will see happy children who are eager to learn and whose excellent behaviour reflects their enthusiasm.

For us at Newtons Primary School, education is about more than just exam results, it is about every child reaching their full potential, socially and academically.  It is about ensuring that each child is cherished, supported and empowered to achieve.  Good manners and respect for one another are highly valued; we promote social awareness and provide clear moral guidance.  We never underestimate the important role we play in your child’s life and therefore strive to make each day the best it can possibly be.

We offer an exceptionally nurturing environment to help children develop the skills and knowledge they need to progress in their education and beyond.

Our pupils learn how to lead a healthy lifestyle.  Pupils take part in a wide range of sporting activities both during lessons and extra curricular clubs, including a very popular ballroom dancing club.  We have a P.E. specialist teacher who works for 2 days per week taking each class for a P.E. session.  She has introduced many new sports to the school, including boccia.

Pupils are taught how to adopt safe practices in all of their lessons.  We have theatre companies who visit to reinforce road safety.  Children in Years 5 and 6 are offered Cycle Training. If they pass Level 2 they are allowed to cycle to school.

We offer a wide and varied curriculum.  Our curriculum is enriched by visitors to school and the trips that different year groups undertake.  We value the importance of the Arts.  Every child in Years 2 and 3 learn to play the violin at no cost to parents.  Children who show aptitude and enjoyment may continue playing the violin to the end of Year 6.

We have strong links with the local community.  We entertain elderly residents at the local community centre at Christmas and sing carols on the Orchard Village Estate.  We have many fund-raising projects throughout the year and we look at the work of different charities.
